Julian Temple Band

Julian Temple Band is an indie music group originally formed in Dunedin, New Zealand in 2004, led by singer-songwriter Julian Temple, who hails from California but settled in New Zealand after postgraduate studies at the University of Otago. The band blends indie, surf rock, alternative rock, chamber pop, folk, and blues into a distinctive sound. Over nearly two decades, they've independently released seven albums, including their latest, *Tunnels* (2023), which has been noted as their most mature and challenging work yet.

Known for their strong songwriting, two of their songs have reached the finals and semi-finals of the International Songwriting Competition judged by industry legends like Tom Waits and the Pixies. The band has enjoyed steady success in New Zealand, with albums like *Upsidedownbackwards* and *Ceiling in the Sky* charting well, and they have toured extensively across New Zealand, Australia, and the U.S. The current lineup features Julian Temple on vocals and guitar, with Paul Mclennan-Kissel on drums, Alex Vaatstra on violin, Steve “Seedy” Marshall on bass, and Andy Straight on guitar.
