The Cool Kids
The Cool Kids are a hip-hop duo consisting of rapper Sir Michael Rocks (Antoine Reed) and producer/rapper Chuck Inglish (Evan Ingersoll). Emerging in the mid-2000s, they became known for their throwback aesthetic, combining lo-fi beats reminiscent of golden-era hip-hop with a fresh, minimalist style. Their music often features clever wordplay and a laid-back, confident delivery, with early hits like “Black Mags” and “88” helping define the blog-rap era.
Originally forming in Chicago and Detroit, The Cool Kids gained attention through Myspace and early mixtapes, eventually releasing their debut album, The Bake Sale, in 2008. After pursuing solo ventures for several years, the duo reunited and returned with new material, including their 2022 project Before Shit Got Weird, showcasing matured production skills and their signature offbeat charisma. Throughout their career, they've maintained a strong cult following, thanks to their unique sound and DIY sensibility.
