Ray Spiegel

Ray Spiegel is a Japanese-American percussionist and composer known for his expertise in Indian classical music, particularly in the Punjab Gharana style of Tabla playing. He began his musical journey as a child, studying a variety of instruments including clarinet, drums, piano, guitar, electric bass, and saxophone. Spiegel's involvement with Indian music deepened when he became a disciple of the legendary Tabla Master Ustad Alla Rakha in 1975. This training significantly influenced his style and contribution to Indian fusion music. Over the years, he has grown to become one of the leading foreign-born tabla players.
