Corrosion Of Conformity

Corrosion of Conformity (often abbreviated as C.O.C.) is a band whose storied history stretches over several decades, having been formed in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1982. Their music has straddled various genres including hardcore punk, crossover thrash, heavy metal, and stoner rock, a testament to their musical adaptability and innovation. The band started out as a hardcore punk ensemble, and they released their debut album "Eye For An Eye" in 1984, which showcased their raw energy and established their presence in the underground music scene. As time passed, their sound evolved, and they gained widespread recognition with the 1991 release of "Blind," an album that saw them transitioning towards a more heavy metal and sludge-influenced sound. This album, along with its successors, helped to cement their standing as pioneers in the then-nascent southern metal genre.

Throughout their career, Corrosion of Conformity has seen several lineup changes with members coming and going, but the core lineup for much of their illustrious period included guitarist Woody Weatherman, bassist Mike Dean, drummer Reed Mullin, and vocalist Pepper Keenan. The latter joined the group in the late 1980s and became a pivotal figure as both a vocalist and guitarist starting with the seminal album "Deliverance" in 1994. The band's hiatus in the early 2000s didn't dampen their impact; they returned with "In the Arms of God" in 2005 and continued to produce heavy-hitting albums such as "Corrosion Of Conformity" (2012) and "IX" (2014). Their 2018 release "No Cross No Crown" marked a much-celebrated return of Pepper Keenan on vocals and was warmly received by fans and critics alike. It is a testament to Corrosion of Conformity’s enduring legacy and their ability to craft music that resonates with a diverse audience spanning multiple generations.
