Changyong Shin is a gifted pianist celebrated for his passionate and technically brilliant performances. He has achieved international recognition with first-prize wins at the Gina Bachauer International Artist Competition, Seoul International Music Competition, and the Hilton Head International Piano Competition. Additionally, in 2022, he received the Raymond E. Buck Jury Discretionary Award at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Born in South Korea, Changyong pursued his musical education at the Curtis Institute of Music, earning a Bachelor's degree, and later at The Juilliard School, where he obtained a Master's degree and Artist Diploma under the tutelage of Robert McDonald. He is currently studying at the New England Conservatory.
Changyong has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Utah Symphony, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and Oakland Symphony, among others. His repertoire includes a wide range of classical works, and he has released critically acclaimed albums, including "Gaspard de la Nuit" and works by Beethoven, Liszt, and Chopin. These albums have been well-received by critics, with his debut CD listed as one of the "Best New Recordings of 2018" by WQXR. Changyong is also an accomplished chamber musician and has given numerous recitals across Asia, North America, and Europe at esteemed venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Louvre Museum.
