Trenches

Trenches was an American metal band from Indianapolis, Indiana, formed in 2007 by Jimmy Ryan, the former vocalist of Haste the Day. Known for their atmospheric sludge metal and metalcore sound, the band released two studio albums: *The Tide Will Swallow Us Whole* (2008) and *Reckoner* (2022). They experienced a hiatus between 2010 and 2012 before returning to make new music, and disbanded again in 2023. The group featured a mix of heavy riffs, dynamic vocals, and layered instrumentation creating a powerful and immersive metal experience.

Their debut album received attention in the metal scene, and their follow-up album *Reckoner* continued to build on their atmospheric intensity. Trenches was recognized for blending heavy metalcore elements with sludge metal to form a distinct and emotional sound. The lineup changed over the years, but Jimmy Ryan remained the central figure throughout their active years.
