7 Seconds
7 Seconds is a legendary hardcore punk band that formed in Reno, Nevada in 1980. Founded by brothers Kevin Seconds and Steve Youth, the group became known for their fast, melodic sound and positive, inclusive messages. As one of the pioneering bands of the American hardcore scene, 7 Seconds helped shape and define the genre with their influential early releases like The Crew (1984) and Walk Together, Rock Together (1985), which stood out for their optimistic attitude amidst the often-aggressive tone of the era.
Throughout their career, 7 Seconds stayed true to their roots, blending blistering punk energy with themes of unity, youth empowerment, and personal integrity. Albums like New Wind (1986) showcased a maturing sound that experimented with melody while still holding onto their hardcore essence. The band's longevity and DIY ethic earned them a dedicated fanbase and lasting respect in the punk community until they officially disbanded in 2018.
