Julius Rudel

Julius Rudel was an Austrian-American conductor best known for his long and influential tenure with the New York City Opera. Born in Vienna in 1921, he emigrated to the United States as a teenager and became a key figure in the opera world, eventually serving as music director of the New York City Opera for over two decades. Rudel was instrumental in championing new works and emerging opera talents, helping to shape the American opera scene.
