James Plotkin

James Plotkin is a musician, composer and sound sculptor who has become widely regarded for his innovative work in the realms of ambient, experimental, and extreme metal music. Over the course of his career, which spans several decades, Plotkin has deftly maneuvered through a variety of sonic landscapes, exhibiting a remarkable capacity for both collaboration and solo explorations. Much of his music is characterized by a mastery of guitar sound manipulation, dense electronic textures, and a meticulous approach to sound design.

Plotkin first gained prominence in the early 1990s as a member of the avant-garde metal band OLD (Old Lady Drivers), whose work pushed the boundaries of the genre with its complex and unorthodox arrangements. After the band's dissolution, he pursued a solo career that furthered his reputation as an aural innovator. In addition to his solo work, Plotkin has collaborated with an array of respected musicians and groups within the experimental music community. His most recent releases, such as "We Carry the Curse" and "Pleasure-Voltage," continue to demonstrate his enduring artistry and influence. With an extensive discography that also includes "The Joy of Disease (Demos and Remixes)" and "Death Rattle," James Plotkin remains a pivotal figure in the world of avant-garde music, never ceasing to push the boundaries of sound and listener expectations.
