Barry Miles

Barry Miles is an American pianist, record producer, and author, born Barry Miles Silverlight on March 28, 1947. He rose to prominence as a child prodigy, joining the Musicians Union at age nine in 1956. Miles performed with notable figures like Miles Davis and John Coltrane, appearing on major TV shows. His solo career began at fourteen with the recording of "Miles of Genius" in 1961. Miles continued to develop his unique jazz style, which he termed "syncretic," blending multiple influences into his improvisational work. As a studio musician, he has worked with various labels and artists, including a stint as musical director for Roberta Flack in the early '80s to mid-'90s.

Miles has a diverse discography, including albums like "White Heat" and "Fusion Is...". His music reflects his eclectic background, combining early jazz influences with rock elements from the late 1950s and early 1960s. Throughout his career, Barry Miles has been recognized for his innovative approach to music and his contributions to the jazz scene.
