Petr Kořínek

Petr Kořínek is a Czech jazz musician born on December 21, 1943, in Brno. He is a versatile artist, skilled as a bassist, pianist, composer, bandleader, and educator. Kořínek studied double bass at the State Conservatory in Brno and has been active since the 1960s. Notably, he was a member of the influential SHQ group from 1971 to 1974 and also played in Jazz Celula, contributing significantly to the Czech jazz scene with original compositions and performances. Beyond performing, he has been a long-time pedagogue at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and College in Prague, sharing his expertise with younger generations of jazz musicians.

His music is characterized by a blend of impressionistic jazz compositions with a touch of humor, as seen in his work with SHQ and other projects.
