Young Widows

Young Widows is an American band hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, noted for their amalgamation of post-hardcore, noise rock, and dark, brooding post-punk. The group formed in 2006 from the ashes of the band Breather Resist, with the original lineup consisting of guitarist and vocalist Evan Patterson, bassist Nick Thieneman, and drummer Jeremy McMonigle. Their music is characterized by its intense energy, deep rhythmic grooves, and Patterson's distinctive baritone, delivering lyrics that often explore themes of strife, existential dread, and the human condition.

The band caught the attention of the underground music community with their debut album, "Settle Down City," released in 2006, followed by a progression of critically acclaimed albums. Over the years, Young Widows have maintained their edge and artistic integrity, culminating in their 2018 release "DECAYED: Ten Years of Cities, Wounds, Lightness, and Pain," which stands as a commemorative anthology that captures a decade's worth of evolution and experimentation. With a relentlessly committed fanbase and a reputation for fierce live performances, Young Widows has solidified their standing as a formidable and influential force within the realm of noisy and cathartic rock music.
