The Rowan Tree

The Rowan Tree is a band deeply rooted in Cornish folk traditions, with a modern twist that incorporates elements of world music and jazz. Formed in 2017 during the Pan Celtic Festival in Ireland, the band consists of Tom Fosten on guitar, Laura Garcia on flute, piano, and accordion, Richard Trethewey on fiddle and vocals, Neal Jolly on bass and whistles, and Richard Morgan on drums. Their music is a vibrant blend of traditional Cornish tunes and contemporary influences, showcasing their passion for Cornish culture and language.

The band has achieved significant success, winning several competitions, including Kan Rag Kernow and Liet International with their song "Tresor." Their ambitious project, "Kolar's Gold," is a mixed-media album that weaves together Cornish and Indian classical music, telling the story of Cornish miners in India. This diverse and innovative approach sets them apart in the folk music scene.
