Saafi Brothers
Saafi Brothers are a German electronic duo from Frankfurt, formed by Gabriel Le Mar and Michael Kohlbecker, known for their blend of ambient, dub and trance-influenced downtempo music; their debut Mystic Cigarettes (originally on Blue Room) established their psychedelic ambient-dub sound in the mid-1990s and they followed with albums including Midnight’s Children (2000), Liquid Beach (2003), Supernatural (2013) and Live on the Roadblog (2014).
Their work layers deep, reverb-heavy atmospheres with bass-driven beats and global/psychedelic textures—an approach often described as “ambient dub” or “downtempo”—and they’ve released recent albums and collections such as The Quality of Being One, its remixes, Make Pictures With The Sound and A Relaxed Blur.
