Nattefrost is the solo project of Norwegian black metal icon Roger Rasmussen, best known as the frontman of the influential band Carpathian Forest. Blending raw, icy riffs with a DIY punk spirit since the early '90s, his music embodies black metal’s rebellious core while flirting with unexpected hooks and collaborations—like Apoptygma Berzerk’s remix of “Westhofen.” Tracks such as “Desolation” and “Nocturnal War” showcase his signature blend of blistering aggression and eerie melody, while releases like “30 Years of Nattefrost” celebrate his enduring, unapologetic presence in the underground. Whether howling over lo-fi live recordings (“Nightfall [Live in Denmark 1999]”) or polishing his chaos for radio edits (“So Do I”), Nattefrost remains a gritty pillar of Scandinavian extreme music.
