The Faceless

The Faceless is an American progressive death metal band that was formed in Encino, California, in 2004 by guitarist Michael Keene. Known for their complex, melodic passages and technical mastery of instruments, they have carved a niche for themselves in the world of extreme metal. The lineup has seen various changes with Keene being the mainstay and driving force behind the band's creative output.

The band gained critical acclaim with their 2006 debut album "Akeldama," which introduced their signature blend of brutal riffs and ambitious, layered compositions. Continuing to evolve and innovate, The Faceless released "Planetary Duality" in 2008, an album highly esteemed within the metal community, often hailed for its conceptual depth exploring themes of alien existence and conspiracy theories. This venture was followed by a shift towards a more experimental and diverse sound with the 2012 release of "Autotheism," which saw the band incorporate a range of progressive and symphonic elements, further expanding their dynamic palette. The band's latest full-length album, "In Becoming A Ghost" (2017), remains true to the complex and technically advanced style the band is known for, while showcasing a synthesis of their musical progression over the years. This album, filled with intricate compositions and dark lyrical content, reaffirmed The Faceless's position as a formidable force in the progressive death metal genre. Stand-alone singles like "The Spiraling Void" and "Black Star" serve as testament to the band's relentless pursuit of pushing the boundaries of extreme metal music.
