Jos Van Immerseel

Jos Van Immerseel is a distinguished Belgian harpsichordist, pianist, conductor, and music pedagogue, renowned for his expertise in historical performance practice. Born on November 9, 1945, in Antwerp, Immerseel has been a pivotal figure in the world of period instrument performance since the 1970s. He founded the ensemble Anima Eterna Brugge in 1987, which specializes in performing on period instruments and has gained widespread acclaim for its authentic interpretations of works from the Baroque to the early 20th century. Van Immerseel has also served as a professor at the Conservatories of Antwerp and Paris, where he has mentored numerous students in the art of period performance.

Across his expansive recording career, Van Immerseel has delved into an array of repertoires as evident from his extensive discography, which showcases his versatility and scholarly approach to music. His recent releases highlight an affinity for French Baroque clavecin music ("Le clavecin à Paris au XVIIIe siècle"), the early works of Beethoven ("Piano Works of the Young Beethoven"), and intricate four-hand piano arrangements ("Dvořák, Grieg & Brahms: Music for Piano Four Hands").
