Geir Bøhren

Geir Bøhren is a Norwegian musician and film score composer born on June 9, 1951. He co-founded the group Junipher Greene in 1966, where he played drums. The band initially played blues before transitioning to progressive rock, signing their first record contract in 1971. Bøhren graduated from the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo in 1977.

Bøhren's breakthrough as a film score composer came with his work on "Orion's Belt," for which he created the theme "Svalbardtema" alongside Bent Åserud. This composition has become an unofficial anthem for Svalbard. The duo won the Amanda Award for best score and the Film Critics' Award for their work on this film. Bøhren and Åserud continued to collaborate closely with director Ola Solum, composing scores for many of his later works. In 1994, they created the official anthem for the Winter Olympics. Bøhren's talent was further recognized when he won the 1999 Spellemannsprisen for the record "Jul i Blåfjell".
