Quicksand

Quicksand is an influential American post-hardcore band, deeply rooted in the New York City hardcore scene, originally forming in 1990. The group is known for its distinct blend of alternative metal, hardcore, and post-punk influences, setting a foundation that would inspire countless acts in the future. Throughout the early and mid-1990s, Quicksand established themselves with a potent combination of emotive intensity and intricate, melodic guitar work. Their debut studio album "Slip," released in 1993, was followed by "Manic Compression" in 1995, both earning critical acclaim and a devout following. Despite their growing success, the band faced internal disputes and disbanded in 1995, leaving behind a legacy that continued to resonate within the underground music community.

After an extended hiatus, to the delight of fans, Quicksand re-emerged in 2012 and started to perform live once again. The renewed vigor and chemistry between band members led to the release of "Interiors" in 2017, their first album in over two decades, showcasing the band's evolution while staying true to their signature sound. They continued to build upon their resurgence with "Distant Populations" in 2021, an album that further explored socio-political themes and complex musical landscapes. In between these releases, Quicksand has also given fans an array of singles and EPs, with their most recent releases including "Felíz," "Giving The Past Away," and the inventive track, "Holy Dub (Hallowed Be Thy Name)." Quicksand’s enduring influence and continued innovation make them a lasting figure in the world of alternative rock and post-hardcore music.
