Hockey Dad

Hockey Dad is an indie rock band hailing from the small coastal town of Windang in New South Wales, Australia. Formed in 2013 by duo Zach Stephenson (vocals and guitar) and Billy Fleming (drums), their music captures the carefree spirit and friendship-based dynamic, emblematic of the pair's surf-loving upbringing. Taking their name from a line in the movie "The Mighty Ducks," they quickly established themselves with their infectious melodies and energetic live shows. Hockey Dad's sound combines elements of garage rock, surf punk, and melodic pop, striking a balance between youthful exuberance and wistful introspection.

The band's debut album, "Boronia," released in 2016, was a nod to their roots, blending summery vibes with tales of teenage antics. Their follow-up project, "Blend Inn" (2018), saw them further refining their sound and garnering international attention. With their third album, "Brain Candy" (2020), Hockey Dad experimented with bolder production and darker themes without abandoning the signature raw energy of their earlier work. Live performances like "Live At The Drive In" and "Triple J Live at the Wireless - The Corner Hotel, Melbourne 2018" showcase their capacity to galvanize audiences with their palpable chemistry and catchy hooks. As they continue to release new material with tracks like "Still Have Room" and "T's To Cross," Hockey Dad remains a vibrant force within the Australian music scene and a beloved act on the global stage, best known for their brand of sun-soaked, spirited rock.
