Joshua Trinidad is a Denver-based trumpeter, composer, and producer of Indigenous Chicano and Mexican-American heritage, known for blending jazz, ambient, rock, electronic, lo-fi, and hip hop into a unique and expressive sound. He first picked up the trumpet at age seven, inspired and encouraged by his early music teachers, and has since built a résumé that spans collaborations with artists like Sage Francis, Chicano Batman, and Nathaniel Rateliff, as well as releases on labels such as RareNoise Records and Subcontinental Records. Trinidad’s style is often described as patient and evolving, shaped by the landscapes of the Rocky Mountains and the influence of artists like Brian Eno and Jon Hassell. His recent work—including tracks like “Shame,” “Resurgence,” and “Lithium”—continues to showcase his boundary-pushing approach to music.
While rooted in Denver, Trinidad’s performances and recordings have taken him across the United States, Europe, and Central Asia, earning him a reputation as a dynamic and sought-after musician in both acoustic and electric settings. He is recognized for his ability to make the trumpet sound unlike any other, crafting soundscapes that defy genre expectations and reflect his diverse musical journey.
