Desaparecidos

Desaparecidos is an American rock band from Omaha, Nebraska, formed in 2001. Spearheaded by Conor Oberst, frontman of the acclaimed indie rock outfit Bright Eyes, the group delivers a fervent brand of punk-infused indie rock with politically charged lyrics. The band's line-up consists of Oberst (vocals, guitar), guitarists Denver Dalley and Landon Hedges, bassist Matt Baum, and drummer Ian McElroy. Their debut album, "Read Music/Speak Spanish," was released in 2002 to critical praise for its raw energy and urgent social commentary, signaling the band's distinct identity separate from Oberst's work with Bright Eyes.

Despite their initial success, Desaparecidos went on hiatus soon after the release of their debut, with members focusing on other projects. However, they rejoined in 2010 and sporadically played shows before releasing a slew of singles that led up to their second full-length album, "Payola," in 2015. This record, coming more than a decade after their first, was a clarion call against social and political injustices, blending their early-2000s post-hardcore sound with contemporary issues. Though the band is not as prolific as some of Oberst's other projects, the intensity and passion behind Desaparecidos' music have left a lasting impression on fans of the punk and indie rock scene. Their live album "Live at Shea Stadium" captures the raw electricity of the group's performances and serves as a testament to their dynamic presence onstage.
