Spock's Beard

Spock's Beard is an American progressive rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1992. The group was founded by brothers Neal and Alan Morse; Neal on keyboards and vocals, and Alan on guitar. The band is known for their intricate, multi-part vocal harmonies, complex compositions, and charismatic live performances. Over the years, the band's lineup has seen changes, most notably the departure of Neal Morse in 2002 to pursue a solo career, after which drummer Nick D'Virgilio took over lead vocals until his departure in 2011. Since then, vocalist and guitarist Ted Leonard, bassist Dave Meros, keyboardist Ryo Okumoto, and drummer Jimmy Keegan, with Alan Morse, have been carrying the torch, infusing their music with a mix of classic and contemporary progressive rock elements.

The band's discography spans over a quarter of a century, with the most recent releases showcasing Spock's Beard's continued dedication to the evolution of the progressive rock genre. Albums like "Noise Floor" (2018) and "The Oblivion Particle" (2015) have been well-received in the prog rock community, containing a blend of the band's signature complex musical passages and accessible rock anthems. "Brief Nocturnes And Dreamless Sleep" (2013) marked a new chapter featuring Ted Leonard's powerful vocal performances. Despite the lineup changes, Spock's Beard has maintained their status as mainstays in the progressive rock scene, staying true to their roots while consistently pushing the boundaries of their music. Their live albums such as "The X Tour Live" and "Live at High Voltage Festival 2011" capture the dynamism and energy that has defined their career and contribute to their reputation as exceptional live performers.
