Eleazar de Carvalho

Eleazar de Carvalho was a renowned Brazilian conductor and composer who made significant contributions to classical music in the 20th century. Born in 1912 in Iguatu, Brazil, he became one of the most prominent figures in Brazilian classical music. De Carvalho studied conducting in Europe and went on to lead major orchestras in Brazil and internationally, including the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. He was known for his interpretations of Brazilian composers like Villa-Lobos, as well as his work with contemporary classical music.
