Masekepung

Masekepung is a vibrant traditional music group hailing from Sukawati, Gianyar in Bali, Indonesia. The name "Masekepung" combines "Maseka" and "Pung," which refer to their distinctive singing style that incorporates a sharp, punctuated vocal sound. Founded on November 9, 2013, they blend modern acoustic sounds with traditional Balinese gamelan influences, focusing on themes rooted in Balinese cultural customs and contemporary social issues. The band features members like Kadék Ryos on vocals and guitar, Dék Wis on bass, and Lénjong on djémbé, alongside 20 other traditional gamelan instrument players. Their music gained wider attention with the 2017 release "Tuak adalah nyawa," and they have released albums such as "Masekepung" (2017) and "Megibung" (2018) that showcase their unique sound.
