Gouryella is a trance project that started as a collaboration between Dutch DJs Ferry Corsten and Tiësto, launching in 1998. The name "Gouryella" is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning "heavenly sky." The project is renowned for its uplifting and emotive trance sound, characterized by soaring melodies, driving basslines, and an almost cinematic quality that captures the grandeur of the trance genre. In the late '90s and early 2000s, Gouryella's tracks such as "Gouryella," "Walhalla," "Tenshi," and "Ligaya" became anthems in the global dance music scene, establishing their legacy in the trance music community.
After Tiësto left the project in 2001, Ferry Corsten continued Gouryella as a solo endeavor, breathing new life into the name years later. In 2015, Corsten revived Gouryella with the release of a new single, "Anahera," which was an instant hit in the trance scene and reignited interest in the Gouryella sound. Following this success, he further released tracks like "Neba," "Venera [Vee’s Theme]," and "Surga," along with the accompanying album "From The Heavens." The project has also been known for its impactful live performances, incorporating a fusion of Corsten's production prowess and classical trance elements that hark back to the golden age of the genre. Gouryella continues to be synonymous with the purity of the trance sound and its ability to evoke deep emotions, as evidenced by the enduring remixes and admiration from both fans and fellow artists alike.
