Lengaïa Salsa Brava

Lengaïa Salsa Brava is a vibrant, multi-award-winning salsa orchestra based in Montreal, founded in 2012 by French Guyanese trombone player Giany Huyghues-Despointes. Known for their powerful and unique sound featuring three trombones and a baritone saxophone, this 11- to 13-piece band brings a fresh and aggressive edge to classic salsa dura, blending the heritage of 70s salsa with innovative new compositions. Comprising musicians from seven different countries including French Guiana, Cuba, Colombia, Peru, Quebec, Spain, and Venezuela, Lengaïa Salsa Brava embodies a truly multicultural and dynamic spirit.

Over their decade-plus career, they have toured extensively, performed at renowned festivals, and collaborated with salsa legends like Ismael Miranda and Jimmy Bosch. Their discography includes notable albums such as *Estética de un Rumbero* (2023), *The Gold Diggers* (2020, Juno-nominated), and *Impacto* (2018). The band’s energetic performances and sophisticated arrangements have earned them multiple Canada Latin Awards for Best Salsa Band, along with other accolades, making them one of the most exciting and respected salsa groups on the international scene today.
