Gazpacho is a Norwegian art-rock band known for their distinctive, atmospheric soundscapes and conceptual albums. Formed in Oslo in 1996, Gazpacho comprises founding members Jan-Henrik Ohme (vocals), Jon-Arne Vilbo (guitars), and Thomas Andersen (keyboards, programming), who were later joined by Mikael Krømer (violin, additional guitars), Kristian "Fido" Torp (bass), and Lars Erik Asp (drums, percussion). The band’s music has often been compared to that of Radiohead, Marillion, and Porcupine Tree, featuring a blend of contemplative melodies, minimalistic instrumentation, and storytelling lyrics.
Over the years, Gazpacho has cultivated a passionate fanbase through their evocative and deeply immersive albums. Their most recent releases, such as "Fireworking at St.Croix," "Winter is Never (at St.Croix)," and their tenth studio album, "Fireworker," showcase their evolution in studio finesse and storytelling through music. The release of "Soyuz" in 2018 was met with critical acclaim, featuring tracks like "Exit Suite" that highlight the band’s knack for crafting elegantly soaring musical vignettes. Renowned for their thematic depth, Gazpacho's albums often revolve around complex concepts, from historical events to abstract philosophical musings, proving their enduring place in the genre of progressive and art rock.
