Ondřej Štveráček Quartet is a dynamic Czech jazz group led by tenor saxophonist Ondřej Štveráček, born in 1977 in Most, Czechoslovakia. Štveráček started on clarinet before switching to tenor saxophone as a teenager and quickly made a name for himself, winning awards and playing with top Czech jazz ensembles like the Gustav Brom Big Band. His debut album with the quartet, "What's Outside," was nominated for Best Jazz Album in 2010, and his follow-up, "The Form," was also highly acclaimed by jazz critics. Known for their imaginative improvisations and high energy, the quartet blends modern jazz influences with a strong sense of tradition, drawing inspiration from legends like John Coltrane while carving out their own sound.
The band has released notable recordings including "Sketches" featuring Gene Jackson and live performances like "Jazz Na Hradě," showcasing their tight interplay and vibrant live presence. Ondřej Štveráček's broad collaborations with international jazz greats and his deep knowledge of the genre give the quartet a rich, authentic voice in contemporary jazz scenes, particularly in the Czech Republic and beyond.
