Sketch Show

Sketch Show is an electronic music duo from Japan, formed by Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi, who are both veterans of the influential techno-pop band Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO). After YMO's hiatus in the early '80s, both members pursued individual projects and collaborations but eventually came together to form Sketch Show in the early 2000s. Their music carries the electronic legacy of their previous work but pushes into new territories with ambient textures, experimental soundscapes, and a minimalist approach.

Their debut album "audio sponge" arrived in 2002, showcasing their unique blend of electronic experimentation and pop sensibilities. It was followed by "tronika," which continued to challenge and redefine the parameters of electronic music with its mélange of glitch, ambient, and pop elements. "LOOPHOLE," another prominent release, further solidified their status as pioneering artists by integrating subtle melodic structures with rhythmic complexities. Additionally, "sketches & notations," a collection of remixes, allowed the duo to revisit their earlier work through reimagined soundscapes and new auditory experiences, emphasizing their commitment to constant innovation in their sound and approach. Sketch Show's work remains a testament to the evolving nature of electronic music and the enduring influence of its creators.
