Tenor Saw

Tenor Saw, born Clive Bright in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1966, was a pioneering figure in the dancehall reggae scene of the 1980s. Known for his distinctive voice and melodic style, he rose to fame with the 1985 hit "Ring the Alarm," produced by Winston Riley. That track became a defining anthem of the digital dancehall era and remains a classic in reggae circles to this day. His debut album, Fever, solidified his status as a rising star, displaying his talent for combining conscious lyrics with infectious riddims.

Despite a career that was tragically cut short—Tenor Saw died under mysterious circumstances in 1988 at just 21 years old—his influence on reggae and dancehall has endured. He recorded with several top producers of his time and left behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations of artists in Jamaica and beyond. His unique vocal style and contributions to the digital era of reggae earned him a lasting place in the genre’s history.
