The Third Mind

**The Third Mind** is a freewheeling collaborative project that brings together seasoned musicians from the American roots and alt-rock scenes. Formed in 2020, the band features guitarist/vocalist Dave Alvin (The Blasters), singer Jesse Sykes (Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter), bassist Victor Krummenacher (Camper Van Beethoven), and multi-instrumentalist David Immerglück (Counting Crows), among others. Their sound is a psychedelic swamp stew—mixing improvisational jams, reimagined ’60s covers, and original tunes that vibe like a cross-country road trip through desert highways and smoky clubs.

Their self-titled 2020 debut album and 2024’s *The Third Mind 2* showcase their love for loose, exploratory grooves, with tracks like a sprawling take on “Morning Dew” and a hypnotic version of “Sally Go Round The Roses” nodding to their acid-rock influences. Live recordings like *Doralee (Live)* and *Live Mind* capture their onstage chemistry, where extended solos and harmonies blur the lines between rehearsal-room experimentation and practiced precision. Equal parts revival and reinvention, The Third Mind feels like a back-porch hang with old friends who just happen to be rock legends.
