Behemoth is an extreme metal band hailing from Gdańsk, Poland, founded in 1991. The band started as a raw black metal outfit, but over time evolved, incorporating elements from death metal and becoming one of the leaders of the blackened death metal genre. The founder, lead vocalist, and guitarist, Adam "Nergal" Darski, has been the driving force and the constant member, with the band's lineup solidifying with bassist and backing vocalist Tomasz "Orion" Wróblewski and drummer Zbigniew "Inferno" Promiński joining in later years.
