The Jeremy Days

The Jeremy Days are a Hamburg-based pop-rock band that first made waves in late 1980s Germany, blending melancholic guitar pop with catchy, accessible rock tunes—fronted by singer-songwriter Dirk Darmstaedter. Formed in 1987 (originally as The Real McCoys), the core lineup included Christoph M. Kaiser (bass, vocals), Louis C. Oberlander (keyboards), Jörn-Christof Heilbut (guitar), and Stefan Rager (drums), though Rager was later replaced by Rob Feigel until the band’s temporary split in 1996. Their self-titled 1988 debut, produced by the British team Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley, was a surprise hit, driven by the single “Brand New Toy,” which nearly cracked Germany’s Top 10. Over the next seven years, The Jeremy Days released five studio albums—including *Circushead*, *Speakeasy*, *Re-Invent Yourself!*, and *Punk by Numbers*—that cemented their reputation for smart, melodic songwriting, even if their later records never quite matched that early commercial peak.

After the 90s, the band quietly faded from the scene, but in 2019, four of the original members reunited for a tour and began playing live again. Even more surprisingly, they returned to the studio in 2021, resulting in their first new album in over 25 years, *Beauty In Broken*, released in 2022—proving that their signature blend of bittersweet pop and rock hadn’t lost its charm. Between old hits and new material, The Jeremy Days continue to connect with fans who remember their golden years as well as those discovering their music for the first time, while current live performances (including the *Beauty In Broken* tour postponed to 2026) show the band’s enduring chemistry and relevance on stage.
