Les Enfoirés is a storied French musical collective whose membership comprises a wide array of popular French entertainers, including singers, actors, and sports personalities. The concept began in 1986 when French comedian and actor, Coluche (Michel Colucci), founded the charitable organization "Les Restos du Cœur" with the objective of distributing food packages and hot meals to the needy. Following Coluche's death in 1986, the entertainers came together to continue his mission, giving rise to the collective known as Les Enfoirés, a term that translates loosely to "The Tossers" or "The Bastards" in English, but bears a tone of endearment in the context of their charitable work.
Every year since 1989, Les Enfoirés has put on a series of concerts that serve as a major fundraising event for Les Restos du Cœur. These events have resulted in annual music album and DVD releases, with many of them reaching top positions on French music charts. The group is known for its elaborate live performances, which feature spectacular sets and a diverse range of music that includes their original songs as well as popular hits, often performed as medleys or thematic tributes. Notable releases within their vast discography include the widely recognized anthem "La Chanson des Restos" and recent titles such as "2023 Enfoirés un jour, toujours" and "Un air d'Enfoirés." Over the years, the project has united the French community in support of a humanitarian cause, cementing itself as an institution in French popular culture.
