CUBISMO GRAFICO FIVE is an extension of the solo project CUBISMO GRAFICO, led by Gakuji Matsuda, who is also a member of the band NEIL&IRAIZA. The project began in 1999 and transformed into a band format known as CUBISMO GRAFICO FIVE in 2003. The band is known for blending genres such as alternative rock, guitar pop, jazz, and reggae. Over the years, the band has released notable albums like "Cinq (Four + One)," "Pop Pollution," and "Double Dozen." The latter was released after the band transitioned to a four-member lineup, with members including Matsuda, Syuta-Low "TGMX" Tagami, Shige Murata, and Akira Tsuneoka. Their music often reflects a lively and eclectic mix of styles, characteristic of the Shibuya-kei scene in Japan.
CUBISMO GRAFICO FIVE has contributed to the vibrant music landscape in Japan, creating a unique sound that appeals to fans of diverse musical genres. Their albums have been well-received, with "Double Dozen" featuring a notable track called "chukit," which was a collaboration with 97 additional singers, creating a 101-person choir. This project showcases the band's innovative approach to music production and collaboration.
