Arthur Davison (1918–1992) was a Canadian-born conductor and violinist whose career spanned classical orchestral and chamber music. He was born in Montreal, began playing the violin at a very young age, and later studied with Camille Couture. Davison dedicated much of his life to music education, famously founding the Arthur Davison Children’s Chorus in 1966 to instill a love for music in young people. His recordings, many with the Virtuosi of England, feature a range of baroque and classical works, including popular collections of Vivaldi and Handel.
Davison made significant contributions to British musical life, both as a performer and as an educator, and is remembered for his accessible, engaging approach to classical music. His legacy includes several celebrated recordings, and his influence extended to performers like his daughter, violinist Beverley Davison.
