Magic, born Awood Johnson Jr. on August 16, 1975, was an American rapper hailing from the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. He gained significant recognition in the late 1990s through his association with No Limit Records, where he debuted with the album *Sky's the Limit* in 1998, which peaked at #15 on the Billboard 200. Known for his smooth delivery and Southern street vibes, Magic also released *Thuggin'* (1999), *White Eyes* (2003), and *On My Own* (2003). Later, he joined forces with fellow New Orleans artist Choppa and former boxer Roy Jones Jr. in the group Body Head Bangerz, releasing *Body Head Bangerz: Volume One* in 2004, which featured the minor hit "I Smoke, I Drank." Magic formed his own label, Banx Entertainment, in 2011 before tragically passing away in a car accident in 2013, along with his wife, leaving behind their daughter.
His career was notable for his street-rooted lyrics and affiliation with some of the biggest names in Southern hip hop, especially during No Limit's golden era. Magic’s work remains a respected part of New Orleans rap history, remembered for his authentic voice from the city’s tough neighborhoods and contributions to the late 1990s hip hop scene.
