ADULT. is an electro duo from Detroit, Michigan, formed in 1998 by husband-and-wife team Adam Lee Miller and Nicola Kuperus. Known for their dark, danceable sound that blends synth-punk, analog synths, drum machines, and electronic elements, ADULT. create music that often explores themes of obsession, psychosis, and the gritty underbelly of modern life with a distinct DIY punk attitude. Over the years, they’ve developed a cult following in the US and Europe, releasing albums on their own Ersatz Audio label and others like Thrill Jockey and Mute Records.

Apart from their music, Nicola Kuperus also contributes the band’s striking album artwork and photography. ADULT. has collaborated with and remixed artists like Felix da Housecat, Fischerspooner, and Ladytron. Their live shows and recordings often carry a tense, industrial edge, mixing acidic electronic beats with Kuperus’s evocative vocals. They have remained creatively active for over two decades, evolving their aesthetic while maintaining the dark, dystopian vibe fans appreciate.
