Bartolomé de Selma y Salaverde was a Spanish composer and organist of the Baroque period. Born in 1595 in the town of Alcaraz, he studied music in Valencia and later became the organist of the cathedral there. Selma y Salaverde's music is known for its beauty and complexity, and he is considered one of the most important Spanish composers of his time. His works include masses, motets, and instrumental pieces, and he is particularly known for his use of counterpoint and polyphony. Selma y Salaverde died in Valencia in 1638.
