The Hangups

The Hang Ups are an American indie pop/rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in 1990. The band, fronted by vocalist and guitarist Brian Tighe, came together while its members were attending the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Initially, the group consisted of Tighe, drummer Steven Ittner, and bassist Jeff Kearns. Later, guitarist John Crozier joined, adding depth to their sound with his contributions to albums like *He's After Me* (1993) and *So We Go* (1996), which is often regarded as a masterpiece for its crisp indie pop style. The band's music often features Tighe's distinctive vocals and a blend of catchy hooks and harmonies, creating a unique blend of jangle-pop and folk-rock.

The Hang Ups were signed to local and national labels, releasing albums like *Second Story* (1999), which was produced by the notable duo Mitch Easter and Don Dixon. Despite not officially disbanding, the group's members have pursued other projects over time. The Hang Ups have been honored with a star on the First Avenue nightclub's mural, recognizing their contribution to Minneapolis' music scene. Their music captures a snapshot of urban life and youth, with a style that's both timeless and evocative of the 1990s indie scene.
