Santiago Auserón

Santiago Auserón, also widely known by his stage name Juan Perro, is an influential figure in the Spanish music scene whose career has spanned over several decades, marking him as a pivotal artist in the evolution of contemporary Spanish music. Born in Zaragoza in 1954, Auserón initially made waves as the lead singer and principal songwriter for the seminal Spanish rock group Radio Futura. Established in the early 1980s, Radio Futura became one of the leading bands of the Movida Madrileña, a cultural movement that followed the end of Franco's dictatorship in Spain. Their innovative blend of rock, punk, and other music styles positioned them as pioneers of the Spanish rock scene.

After the dissolution of Radio Futura in the early 1990s, Santiago Auserón embarked on a solo career under the alias Juan Perro, exploring deeper into the realms of Latin, African, and jazz influences. His solo discography, including albums such as "La Ventolera" and "Vagamundo," showcases his adeptness at fusing genres, encapsulating a rich tapestry of global sounds with poetic lyrics. The album "Canciones De Santiago Auserón Con La Original Jazz Orquestra" epitomizes this blend, highlighting his ability to cross musical boundaries and underscoring his reputation as a sophisticated songwriter and musician. Auserón has been recognized for his intellectual approach to music and his profound understanding of its roots, making him a significant and respected figure in both Spanish and Latin American music circles.
