Jalil Mosso Castrejón is a renowned Mè'phàà guitarist from Tlapa de Comonfort, Mexico, located in the mountainous region of Guerrero. He is the recipient of the 2020 State Youth Award for Artistic Expressions and Popular Arts and was awarded a grant in the Traditional Mexican Musicians category by FONCA in 2023. Jalil is also the director of the Guitar Orchestra and the "Mekahuehuetl" Guitar Festival. His performances include notable appearances at festivals like the 47th International Cervantino Festival in 2019. His repertoire includes works by the Guerrerense composer Margarito Damián Vargas and traditional music from the mountains of Guerrero.
Jalil has received dedications from composers Julio César Oliva and Ernesto García de León, and he has been featured in international programs. Some of his compositions include "Guerrero Suite" and music for several films, such as "Goo'n Ma ́ñaán" (Luna Roja), a short fiction film in the Mè'phàà language, and documentaries like "Un México Perro" and "Cine Hidalgo." His album "Ibero" was released in 2018, showcasing his unique blend of traditional and contemporary music. Jalil continues to share the sounds of the Guerrero mountains through his work.
