Sandrider is a potent force in the Pacific Northwest's heavy music scene, hailing from Seattle, Washington. Known for their grunge-infused sludge metal sound, the band was formed in 2008 and takes its name from the giant sandworms of Frank Herbert's science fiction epic, "Dune." The trio, composed of Jon Weisnewski (vocals, bass), Nat Damm (drums), and Jesse Roberts (guitar, vocals), mesh their colossal riffs and thunderous rhythms with gruff, melodic vocals that evoke the gritty spirit of their hometown’s musical legacy.
The band's self-titled debut album, "Sandrider," released in 2011, set the tone for their robust sound—melding the heavy with a kinetic energy that immediately captured the attention of the underground rock scene. Their follow-up album "Godhead," released in 2013, cemented their status as sonic titans among their peers, earning acclaim for its raw power and intricate compositions. With subsequent releases such as "Armada" and "Aviary & Baleen," and their collaboration with fellow Seattle rockers Kinski in "Sandrider + Kinski,” Sandrider continues to evolve while maintaining the ferocious, high-octane momentum that has become their signature. The band's recent tracks such as "Enveletration," "Circles," and "Alia" see them expanding their musical horizons while staying true to their bone-shaking, earthy sound.
