Aaron Turner is an American musician, singer, and graphic artist known primarily as the guitarist and vocalist for post-metal bands like Isis and Sumac. He's also involved in several other projects including Old Man Gloom, Mamiffer, and Jodis. Beyond music, Turner founded the influential Hydra Head Records label, helping shape the experimental and underground metal scene since the late '90s. Currently based in Vashon, Washington, he co-runs another label, SIGE Records, with his wife Faith Coloccia, who is also his musical collaborator in Mamiffer.
Turner's musical output spans a wide range—from heavy, atmospheric metal to abstract experimental compositions—often blending improvisation with longform structures. His work is recognized for combining intense heaviness with thoughtfulness and grace. Over the years, he has collaborated with many notable artists and continues to release a prolific catalog of projects, including solo and collaborative albums like *In the Falls* and *Now That You've Found It*.
