Timothy Brown is a renowned English choral conductor, born on December 9, 1946. He received his early musical training as a chorister at Westminster Abbey and later as an alto choral scholar at King's College, Cambridge, under the direction of Sir David Willcocks. Brown's career highlights include serving as the Director of Music at Clare College, Cambridge, from 1979 to 2010, where he led the college choir in numerous acclaimed recordings. He has also been instrumental in founding the Cambridge University Chamber Choir and the London-based professional chamber choir, English Voices. Brown is known for his work with various ensembles and has been a guest chorus-master at prestigious institutions like the Berlin Staatsoper and Flanders Opera.
Brown's recent releases include a range of choral music, such as works by J.S. Bach, Richard Dering, and Henry Purcell, among others. His contributions to music extend beyond conducting, as he has edited choral volumes for Faber Music and contributed to the complete edition of William Walton's music published by Oxford University Press.
