Los Pirañas

Los Pirañas is a Colombian band that has been making waves with their eclectic and irreverent approach to tropical and Latin music. Composed of Eblis Álvarez on guitar, Mario Galeano on bass, and Pedro Ojeda on drums, the trio has been collaborating since the 1990s, yet they officially formed Los Pirañas in 2009. The band is known for their fusion of traditional Colombian rhythms with avant-garde electronic and rock influences, creating a sound that’s both explosive and deeply rooted in their native musical heritage.

The group has made a significant impact with a string of releases that showcase their adventurous and unconventional style. Their 2020 album "Infame Golpazo En Keroxen" continued their trend of challenging the boundaries of genre, blending psychedelic guitar riffs with cumbia and salsa grooves. Preceding works like "Historia Natural" (2019) and "La Diversión Que Hacía Falta En Mi País" (2013) illustrate their commitment to producing music that is both danceable and thought-provoking. "Toma Tu Jabón Kapax" (2012), their debut album, set the stage for their innovative sound that has captivated audiences both in Colombia and internationally. With each release, including evocative singles like "Palermo's Grunch" and "Puerta del Sol", Los Pirañas continue to affirm their place as innovators in the Latin American music scene, never shying away from satirical commentary on social issues or from pushing the sonic envelope.
