Paris Washboard

Paris Washboard is a French jazz band that was founded in 1988 by Alain Marquet (clarinet) and Daniel Barda (trombone), both former members of Gilbert Leroux's Washboard Group. The band is known for its traditional jazz style, often drawing inspiration from great American composers like Fats Waller and Duke Ellington. Over the years, the band has included various musicians, with Louis Mazetier being a regular pianist, though he sometimes cannot tour due to his medical profession. Other notable members include Charles Prevost on washboard and Phillippe Carment on piano. Paris Washboard performs a wide range of concerts, typically between 60 and 90 annually, across multiple countries including the USA, Switzerland, and Germany.

The band's music is characterized by its lively swing and traditional jazz repertoire, often featuring classic tunes that are less commonly played by other bands. Paris Washboard has a strong following in France, where traditional American jazz is particularly popular. The band's lineup has expanded to include additional members, such as Michel Bonnet on trumpet, forming the Paris Washboard Superswing quintet. Their performances are marked by spontaneity and a deep passion for the music they play.
