Ditta Rohmann

Ditta Rohmann is a super versatile Hungarian cellist born in Budapest in 1983, coming from a musical family—her dad is the pianist Imre Rohmann. She picked up the cello at age 7, studied piano and sang as a kid, and headed to the New England Conservatory in Boston for a year starting at 10 with teacher Suren Bagratun, then honed her skills at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest from 1995 to 2005.

Known for her killer artistry and stage energy, Ditta blends classical chops with improvisation and world music vibes, even mixing in her vocal talents. She's dropped acclaimed albums like her Hungaroton recording of Bach's 6 Cello Suites, a third Bach disc of Sonatas and Partitas in 2018, and collabs with her dad on Bartók, Debussy, De Falla, and Ravel that snagged a Gramofon award, plus recent ones like C.P.E. Bach concertos and her Solo Cello Portrait featuring Kodály, Kurtág, and Ligeti. She's a solo star in big halls, works with orchestras like the Hungarian National Philharmonic, and holds a spot at the Academy of Music.
