Mest is an American punk rock band hailing from Blue Island, Illinois, and was formed in 1995 by cousins Tony Lovato (vocals and guitar) and Matt Lovato (bass), joined by Nick Gigler (drums) and later Jeremiah Rangel (guitar). The band is known for its unique blend of punk rock energy with catchy pop melodies, a style that earned them a place in the hearts of pop-punk enthusiasts around the turn of the millennium. They rose to prominence signed under Maverick Records, a label that was partly owned by Madonna, and gained further attention with the release of their self-titled album in 2003, which included hits like "Jaded (These Years)" featuring Benji Madden of Good Charlotte.
Over the years, Mest has undergone several lineup changes and hiatuses, with Tony Lovato remaining the constant driving force behind the band's creativity and direction. Their sound evolved with each release, managing to stay relevant to the changing tides of the music scene while maintaining the core elements that defined their early work. Despite a temporary disbandment in 2006, the band reformed and continued to put out music, with releases like "Not What You Expected" in 2013 marking a return to their roots and "Masquerade" in 2020 showcasing their continued passion for the genre. Throughout their career, they have solidified their reputation as stalwarts of the pop-punk world, with loyal fans eagerly following each twist and turn in their musical journey.
